Now that summer is upon us, are you looking for some of the best lakes for swimming in the United States? Here at Lakebound, we know lakes, so we’ve rounded up six of our personal favorites.
Lake Tahoe
On the border of California and Nevada, in and amongst the Sierra Nevada Mountains lies Lake Tahoe, the second deepest lake in the USA. While it is a cold lake, where the surface temperature in the summer averages 63 degrees F, it does see 300 days of sunshine each year, making it one of our picks for a refreshing swim on a scorching hot day! Not to mention, there are over forty beaches surrounding this gorgeous lake. Be sure to check out our range of Lake Tahoe products.
Newfound Lake
In New Hampshire, Newfound Lake is considered one of the cleanest lakes with its water being fed by eight underground springs. For us, that alone makes it a wonderful swimming spot! It is also one of the clearest, meaning you can easily see your feet when standing. It is not a large lake with only 22 miles of shoreline, but it is, however, one of the deepest lakes in the state. From prints to pillows to mugs, you’ll love our line of Newfound Lake products.
Lake Texoma
North of Dallas, Lake Texoma is considered one of the cleanest lakes with its water being fed by eight underground springs. North of Dallas, Lake Texoma gets its name because it straddles the Texas and Oklahoma borders, and it also makes for a very interesting shaped lake. It’s one of the largest reservoirs in the country with a surface area of 89,000 acres, one of the few freshwater lakes in the United States. That alone is what makes it one of our top picks for swimming! If you love this lake, then be sure to check out all of our Lake Texoma products.
Lake George
Lake George is located in Adirondack State Park, and it is one of the cleanest and clearest lakes in the country. It is 32 miles long, 3 miles wide, and reaches depths of nearly 200ft, with over half of its water coming from streams. Plus, we love that there are tons of beaches along its shoreline, all surrounded by the beautiful Adirondack mountains. How can you resist? We bet you won't be able to resist our Lake George themed products either.
Whitefish Lake, Montana
Located at the base of the Rockies in Northwestern Montana, Whitefish Lake is a beauty! Surprisingly, this is not a cold lake. Because it’s fairly shallow, it warms up quickly, making it ideal for swimming. But the pristine blue water, white sand beaches and mountain background is what led it to being one of our top picks for swimming. We also think you'll love our line of Whitefish Lake items.
Crater Lake, Oregon
Last but not least on our list is Crater Lake, right here in our home state of Oregon. Crater Lake is actually the deepest lake in America, and one of the cleanest. Known for its sapphire blue color, it is a little chilly with an average summer temperature of just 60°F, but it also makes it perfect for a cooling-off swim on those sweltering hot summer days. Be sure to see our entire line of Crater Lake merchandise
We told you that we know lakes! In fact, our online store has over 5200 lake map prints and lake-themed products. They make the best gifts for the lake lovers in your life!
